OMI Tray
OMI Tray
Enrich your home with colour, history and culture.
Yinka Ilori’s graphic and brightly hued OMI TRAY is inspired by the Yoruba word “omi” meaning “water”. Looking at the history of London’s Royal Docks and the deliveries of Caribbean rum, sugarcane, coffee, tobacco and so much more, this colourful artwork celebrates the exchange of cultures and the oceanic routes the ships would sail.
Note the orange ripples set upon a deep blue background and the contrasting barrel-shaped details – each referencing the historic moment and time.
Storytelling is an important theme for Yinka, re-interpreting past moments and experiences into artworks. The tray remembers history through colour and shapes, it can be left around the kitchen and become artwork in its own right.
Please note that due to how the trays are produced, there may be slight flecks on the surface which adds to its charm.
